I’m so happy you’ve found your way here! Elise Bateman Designs is my little corner of the internet where creativity, color, and everyday inspiration come together. I specialize in surface pattern design, creating artwork meant to bring joy, beauty, and a touch of personality to the world around you — whether that’s through textiles, home décor, or everyday products.

I find inspiration in the places and moments that surround me — from the vibrant colors of island life in St. Kitts to the quiet details of nature. Each pattern I create is made with care, heart, and a love for design that celebrates both simplicity and creativity.

While my main focus right now is digital and patterned artwork, I’ll also be reopening custom watercolor commissions once my family and I return to Canada and the U.S. in early 2027.

Hi, I’m Elise Bateman — a surface designer, artist, wife, and proud mom of two amazing kids!
​
Creativity has been part of me for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a small city just south of Alberta’s capital, I loved spending hours sketching, painting, and dreaming up layouts for my future dream home. That love for design eventually led me to study Interior Design Technology at NAIT, and I absolutely loved every moment of it.
​
After graduating, I worked as a design assistant for a cabinet company, helping to create custom kitchens and bathrooms alongside some incredibly talented designers. That experience taught me so much about design, function, and joy — especially how good it feels to help people create spaces they truly love.
​
In 2023, I became a mom to my wonderful son Oliver, and in August 2025, we welcomed our sweet daughter Katharine. Around that same time, my husband began his journey at UMHS Medical School, and we made the exciting move to St. Kitts in the Caribbean. It’s been such an adventure — a little chaotic at times, but full of beauty, growth, and new inspiration.

Adjusting to island life has been a process, but I’ve found creativity in every part of it — from the vibrant colors and lush scenery to the peaceful sound of the ocean. All of it constantly inspires my work and helps shape my designs in new ways.

Now that I’m easing back into creating after having Katharine, I’m reminded of how much I truly love this — the process, the purpose, and the joy of turning ideas into something that people can bring into their homes. I feel so grateful for my husband’s support and for this life that allows me to do what I love while raising the little humans I love most.
​
These days, my goal is simple: to create art that feels warm, meaningful, and inspiring — pieces that bring color, comfort, and happiness to every home.
